This year I’ve been drinking more tea. I don’t know why, but it’s something about drinking tea during the day makes me feel so happy.

I’m also cutting back on my coffee intake, so I’m attempting to make drinking tea a part of my life.

I used to get the box of tea that had all the different varieties of herbal teas in it, but now that I am growing my own peppermint plant, I have started making my own.

I love going outside on my balcony and picking leaves off my plant to bring them inside to make my family tea.

If you’re looking to grow your own peppermint plant, you can check out some below. You can buy the seeds or plants on amazon.

Things you will need

  • Peppermint Plant – If you don’t have a peppermint plant, you can find fresh leaves at your farmer’s market or grocery store.
  • Boiling water
  • Cup
  • Knife
  • Lemon (Optional)
  • Honey (Optional)

Step One:

Pick 7-10 peppermint leaves off the peppermint plant or from what you bought from the store.

Step Two:

Rinse the peppermint leaves off under running water.

Step Three:

Cut the peppermint leaves into little pieces with a knife. You can also use your hands to tear them apart. Cutting or bruising the leaves of the plant helps to release the oils and makes a flavorful tea.

Place peppermint leaves in a teacup/mug. The more leaves you put in, the stronger your tea will be

Step Seven:

Let the tea steep for 4- 5 minutes. If you want your tea to have a stronger taste, then let the leaves stay in there for longer

Step Eight:

Remove the peppermint leaves after the tea has finished steeping. Sometimes I leave my leaves in my cup instead of removing them.

Step Nine:

Add whatever flavors you want in the tea. For example, you can add lemon and honey for a different and fun taste.
