When I told a couple of people that I took bay leaf baths for my spiritual practice, they looked at me like I was crazy.

I mean, it’s understandable since most people see bay leaves as something you cook with, not something you put in your bath.

But the truth is, bay leaves are incredibly powerful regarding spiritual work. They are often used in manifestation, cleansing, and protection rituals.

So, here are the eight benefits of taking a bay leaf bath.

    1. Cleanses and purifies your energy

Bay leaves are known for their ability to absorb negative energy and toxins.

When you take one, you’re not only physically cleansing your body, but you’re also cleansing your aura and energy field.

When your energy is good, you feel good. When your energy is polluted or negative, you feel bogged down, scattered, and off balance.

A bay leaf bath is my go-to whenever I feel weighed down by other people’s energy and emotions. It helps me to release any negativity I may have absorbed and feel refreshed and recharged.

Also, adding Epsom salt to your bath can amplify the effects of the bay leaves by helping to pull out any negativity or toxins from your body.

    2. Connect with your intuition

Listening to your intuition is an important part of living a spiritual life.

Your intuition is that inner voice or guidance system that helps you make life decisions and guides you in the right direction.

But sometimes, it can be hard to quiet the outside world’s noise and listen to your intuition.

Taking a bath is already relaxing and can help to still your mind. But when you add the element of bay leaves, you open yourself up to receive messages and guidance from your intuition and higher self.

The next time you feel lost or uncertain about a decision, consider taking a bay leaf bath and see what guidance comes for you.

After your bath, grab a journal and write down any thoughts that came to you during the bath. You may be surprised at how clear your intuition is when you take the time to quiet your mind and listen.

    3. Helps in manifesting your desires.

If you are on a manifestation journey and love relaxing baths, you will be happy to know that bay leaf baths can help you manifest your goals.

Bay leaves are powerful when it comes to manifesting because of the spiritual properties they hold.

You are essentially charging the water with your goals by attaching your intentions and desires to the bay leaves and placing them in your bath.

Then, as you relax in the bath and let the water work its magic, you open yourself up to receive what you desire and bring your goals closer to fruition.

    4. Relieves stress and anxiety

According to The American Institute of Stress:

    • About 33 percent of people report feeling extreme stress
    • 77 percent of people experience stress that affects their physical health
    • 73 percent of people have stress that impacts their mental health
    • 48 percent of people have trouble sleeping because of stress

One of the best ways to relieve stress and anxiety is to take a relaxing bath, and when you add bay leaves to the mix, you get an even more powerful stress reliever.

Bay leaves have a calming effect on the mind and body, which can help to ease stress and anxiety.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed, consider adding bay leaves to your next bathtub session.

You can also enhance your bath and add a few drops of essential oils for stress relief, such as lavender or chamomile.

Put on some relaxing music, dim the lights, and enjoy your stress-free bath.

    5. Improves your sleep quality

A simple bath can do wonders before bed if you struggle with insomnia. But adding bay leaves takes it to the next level by helping you relax and drift off into a restful sleep.

Bay leaves contain compounds that have sedative effects. So, if you’re having trouble sleeping, add a few bay leaves to your bath before bedtime.

To pair with your bath, make a cup of bay leaf tea. Drink it about 30 minutes before your bath, and then enjoy a restful night’s sleep.

    6. Increase your spiritual awareness.

Bay leaves have been used for centuries by healers and shamans to promote spiritual growth and enlightenment. Taking a bath with these leaves helps to open your mind and deepen your connection with the spiritual realm.

As you’re in the bath, ask for guidance from your spirit guides, your higher self, or the Universe. Then sit back and relax and see what comes through for you.

You may receive an answer to a question you’ve been asking or feel more connected to your spirituality. Either way, it’s a win!

Also, remember that you may not receive an answer immediately, but trust that the guidance will come when you’re ready to hear it.

    7. Helps with psychic protection

If you are open to the idea of psychic attacks, then you may want to consider adding bay leaves to your bath for protection.

If you are feeling off, you may be under a psychic attack. Psychic attacks can come from negative thoughts, energy, and many other sources. And while it’s not something that happens to everyone, it’s always good to be prepared and aware of it.

Bay leaves are excellent for psychic protection because they shield against negative energy. So, if you’re feeling particularly sensitive or being bombarded with negative energy, a bay leaf bath can help protect you.

In addition to adding bay leaves to your bath, you can include other psychic protection measures, such as smudging, crystals, or sea salt.

    8. Aids in detoxification

Our bodies are constantly bombarded with toxins from the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the products we use. And while our bodies are designed to detoxify themselves, sometimes they need a little help.

A bay leaf bath is a great way to boost your body and help detoxify more efficiently. The compounds in bay leaves help to stimulate detoxification and promote the elimination of toxins from the body.

How to prepare a bay leaf bath

There is no right or wrong way to prepare a bay leaf bath. But you can do a few things to make it more effective.

First, define your purpose. Are you looking to relax, improve sleep, or amplify your manifestations?

Gather the necessary supplies once you have identified why you are taking a bath.

For a basic bay leaf bath, you will need the following:

    • 10 -15 Bay Leaves
    • A pot of boiling water
    • Essential oil (optional)
    • Strainer
    • Tongs

    Step one:

Add the bay leaves to the boiling water and steep them for 10-15 minutes.

If you are adding essential oils, you can add them to the pot of water or directly to the bathtub. I like to add a few drops of lavender oil to my bath for relaxation.

    Step two:

After the bay leaves have steeped, carefully remove them from the water using a strainer or picking them out with tongs.

    Step three:

Pour the pot’s water into your bathtub, soak for 20 – 30 minutes, and enjoy.
